WINDOWS and MIRRORS
ART EXHIBIT REFLECTS ON TEN YEARS OF WAR
Charleston, WV---“Windows and Mirrors,” a traveling art exhibit marking 10 years of War in Afghanistan, will be featured during Charleston’s Downtown Art Walk on Thursday, Dec. 15 at Good News Mountaineer Garage, 221 Hale Street from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. (pdf flyer here)
The exhibit was developed by the American Friends Service Committee, a Quaker organization devoted to social justice, nonviolence and humanitarian service. It features the paintings of artists from around the US as well as posters made by Afghan youth. Local sponsors of the exhibit include West Virginia Patriots for Peace, Seneca 2, the American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia, and the AFSC WV Economic Justice Project.
“Windows and Mirrors” is intended to provide an opportunity for reflection on the human and economic costs of the war in Afghanistan for veterans of that conflict and their families, Afghan civilians, and the public at large--and to encourage a renewed commitment to diplomacy, reconciliation, development and reconstruction in Afghanistan, at home, and around the world.
The exhibit will travel for different viewings to several locations around the state. Check our web page for additional venues.

ONLY THE PEOPLE WILL STOP WAR ON IRAN!
President Bush has made accusations that Iran supports attacks on U.S. troops, without any evidence. When we hear other elected officials like Senator John McCain saying (to the tune of Barbara Ann), 'Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran,' the horrific seems possible (again!).
Our own Senator Rockefeller, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said that any U.S. military move into Iran would be 'catastrophically stupid' and 'unleash a conflagration like we've never heard of before.' We could not possibly agree more.
Click here to read a letter that was sent to our Congressional Delegation outlining why peaceful negotiations are the ONLY way to deal with the rising tensions between the US and Iran, and in the Middle East in general.
